Spring fun at CJ school
Spring term 2026 began on March 28th, and we’ve been having a blast at school ever since!
We enjoyed a wonderful Easter Puja with a large group of visiting yogis, and were blessed by live music and a joyful atmosphere. Following the puja, representatives from the US and China symbolically broke eggs to overcome and surrender the world's ego and superego.
During one of our regular Sunday pujas, this time held on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, we offered flags and a world map. This included the flags of Iran, the USA, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, and China. We took the opportunity of Akshaya Tritiya to pray for global peace.
We have been lucky to experience beautiful spring weather with almost summer-like temperatures. Taking advantage of the sunshine, we planted vegetable and flower seeds during our afternoon class.
Our shade-giving "footsoaking" tree is aging and won't be standing much longer. We viewed this transition as an opportunity for new life; on Earth Day, we planted a native Tulip Poplar and a spring-blooming Oriental Cherry. The children created a "peace garden" by planting flowers in a beautiful spiral around the new trees. Stay tuned— we’re currently working on a centerpiece to enhance our new garden.
They also enjoyed crafting with natural materials to capture the lingering essence of the past fall.
Conquering obstacles on our regular Saturday walks.
The cooking class was a big hit! Everybody came for seconds of the homemade chinese dumplings for dinner.
The weather has been really kind to us this term, and we have had a lot of opportunities to meditate, enjoy a foot soak, and walk barefoot in the backyard.
The children enjoyed a fun card game about consonant blends, working together to learn new words.
They meditate beautifully here in Canajoharie. We begin each class by offering prayers to our Mother, requesting Her presence and guidance throughout our school day.
The students love helping one another and sharing new ideas along the way.
